If you are coming bahrain in a good company, there is no problem in owning a car (as EK Kanoo itself giving the vehicle on hire purchase @ affordable BD 180/- per month (may be slightly vary), even your company can give a guarantor letter to the Auto dealer, (there is more formalities are there)
Still you can rent a car for a time being as the previous answerer said Avis and Budget rent a car, may be best for few months

further more you should have a valid international license to drive a car in bahrain (even rent a car), if you posses any gulf license you may convert that it in to Bahraini License by Paying BD 23 in GDT (General Directorate of Traffic)
for that transfer you should be residence of bahrain by your visa should stamped in passport, and you should have valid CPR (Central Populatiion Registration) card
any make sure you have to surrender you valid license of which issued nation (ie in order to receive the Bahrain License you no more valid of current license
