Q: I am going to Egypt and I hear it's great apart from the amount of hasseling you get from people trying to sell you things (I was even told of a woman trying to sell her child) and I was wondering what is the best way to deal with this?I hear they follow you and try and wear you down. Should I totally ignore them? I hate being hasseled in this way! Thanks Zoser- Calm down, I am only repeating what I heard...this is what someone said "My Cousins went their last year, They said it was really good apart from. . . one woman tried to sell her a little boy, And When she went into they shop, a little boy kept trying to hold her hand and went evreywhere she went. Other wise it should be a good holiday."

A: Just keep moving, and keep quiet, not engaging anyone in conversation. If you stop, you may give the false impression that you can, in fact, be warn down, as you say. If you are a woman, it is a very good idea to wear the burkah, which is the woman's face veil. Without it you will draw unwanted attention for two reasons: You'll identify yourself as a westerner, and even worse, possibly, as one who doesn't respect the local customs.
