Do yo sometimes miss yourself ?

Q: what do you think is the reason ? and how to get back to yourself ?

A: Yes, I do miss my older self. I get nostalgic of the past and it helps to relive a memory or a particular phase in the past when I handled things better or was generally satisfied with myself. I miss myself when I am not being myself in every day life. I lose myself when I compromise myself and do not feel free of expressing myself but when I give up hopes and dreams. Without dreams, can there be any hope for the future? Any reason to go on? How do you get back to yourself? You try to tune in with your needs and work towards fulfilling them. For example, if you put on some weight, you try to lose it because that is how you picture yourself. For me, if I feel dissatisfied with myself, I will try to pinpoint a stage in my life when I was happy and satisfied and try to remember what I did to feel this way. Then I try to apply the same principles to retrieve my self from myself. If you think that if you give up on some things that you love (a hobby, your values,a particular kind of food) it will not matter: that is an alienation from yourself. Remember, we form our personality until we hit puberty and we rarely ever change personality traits throughout the rest of our life. Our personality has been "cemented" in place. It is like the story of the book has been written. Perhaps some changes will occur in the course of the story (as some changes do happen in our personality) but the story remains the same. Do you know many people who, when trying to be someone else, can stick to it? Even if they stick to their "plan", it will not be for long. And it will not be without some negative - often psychological - effects. So, this hopefully tells you that alienating someone from their own self can happen and it happens a lot. It is an internal fight, sometimes you fight between the angelical you and the bad you, striving to be good to yourself and others and above all, be good to GOD. Since, the beginning of time, the humankind has been losing itself and reclaiming it. It is this fight within ourselves that makes us better people. That makes us appreciate the goodness in ourselves. Now, it is up to us if we take this goodness and replace it back in the shelves of our soul.
