A: the story of the Monastry is that when Israel occupied Sinai, the priests closed the gates , and remained behind them. they were self sufficient , and didnt ask for anything outside the gates . the Israeli left them alone . it is closed between 1st and 6th bec the priests are praying , dedicated to prayer thanking God for their safety which came with the 6th October War . a car carrying 2 persons pays LE 30 to be allowed to Ras Mohamad , but a tourist pays more , $ 5 or about Euro 4 . actually , i always go on a boat in a cruise .
