Q: there's palestinians and israelis there's arabs and jews there's settlers and occupiers ...PLO and Hamas I'm trying to figure out who is who
A: Quote: "there's palestinians and israelis there's arabs and jews there's settlers and occupiers ...PLO and Hamas" It's Hamas and PLO. They are the extremists, the occupiers, the ones that like to use war for 60 years now. Everyone else you can just count in as average "Joes." There was Palestine region thru British mandate that was divided between Jordan receiving 80 percent and Israel receiving 20 percent. The die hard anti-Jewish haters declared a new Palestinian people and have been fighting the Jewish state this whole time for the remaining 20 percent, the ones that did not fight became residents of Jordan or Israel. Some Arabs cannot say that the war with Israel is over, that Palestinians never existed and take back in these Palestinians to their rightful originating countries (Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon) because Arabs in Middle East are very tribal by nature (very much different from Western culture) and will decapitate the head or otherwise assassinate anyone that would like to peacefully settle the problem. So leaders are very much at the whim of their extremist population. Some leaders have used this extremist hatred to their advantage to "blame the Jew" it takes the heat off of their own inadequacies of government and gives them power. Regarding the PLO and Fatah they were developed by Egypt and Syria back in the late 60's by extremists when the Arab countries lost their war with Israel. The extremists from other countries joined in. The PLO and Fatah was actually developed to overthrow both Israel AND Jordan. They were such an extremist group they tried to assassinate King Hussein and they used Jordanian soldier's head as soccer practice, they used to demand taxes from civilians at gunpoint and they were in essence operating as a state within a state. Black September Jordan event got them kicked out of Jordan in a bloody battle. Then the PLO was kicked out of Lebanon. The Arabs harbor their story of "new palestinian people" because not only their hatred for Israel, but also because nobody wants them back in their countries because they are so violent. In UAE for example they keep the "palestinian" women at age of majority (18) but kick out the 18 year old men. Other Arab nations hold them as refugees and Lebanon had a violent war with them about a year ago. Other aspects are that even without a "nationality" issue Arabs are very tribal by nature an will battle with each other, so there is situation upon situation for them they do not assimilate. The names have changed, with Fatah being the PA and "more moderate" and Hamas being the most extremist and aggressive but the goal is still the same, the destruction of Israel. There are always faction splits within this group of people when they are given the opportunity for peace or war, they choose war. There is a part of the palestinian self-identified community that would actually like to have no more part of this fiasco. There is roughly 1/3 of the population within the Gaza and West Bank that want out, to anywhere, other than under Hamas or the Palestinian Authority but they are most favorable to Western Democratic countries. I am favorable to let them out as Israel has already absorbed 20 percent of its population the indigenous (palestinian region Arabs) with the rest being "refugees" left at their doorstep from other Arab countries. It is not fair to Israel to suffer the Arab nation's inadequacies and Western nations are of the hospitality and design to absorb them. The Arabs themselves are responsible for creating this plight of "palestinian people" but refuse to take them back into their originating Arab countries (refer back up to tribal/decapitation of heads and assassination attempts) and prefer to leave them on Israel's doorstep as orphans. The International Community succombs to Arab demands when Israel reacts to the terrorism and thus far has refused also these "new palestinian people".to be absorbed into their own countries in anything but small numbers even though this is what 1/3 of Palestinians wish. So it creates a never ending story of how the new Palestinian people (from various Arab nations) were birthed out of extremist hatred for Israel by Egypt and Syria and then abandoned at Israel's doorstep. You will have to research things yourself, because Arabs cannot admit the truth except via offhand conversations otherwise they risk their lives or their leadership. Research Black September Jordan, PLO, Fatah, Muslim Brotherhood, PFLP. Qaddaffi speech to the Arab Summit 2008 is very telling and one time in 1977 a PLO leader admitted it when he was on an anti-Israel rant. "The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa. While as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan." -- PLO Executive Committee member Zuhayr Muhsin, March 31, 1977, interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw." My apologies for a lengthy answer but it deserves more than a simple answer as real people are dieing and it is a complex matter of which I take very seriously.
