Q: I am researching health provision, health promotion in Morocco. I love the country and want to set up there. It will be non-profit making for me (apart from salary and moderate expenses) but will benefit the country in respect of health issues, employment and tourism. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. I am a nurse with experience in haematology /Stroke / Cancer / Acute general medical. I am aware that the Princess Selma is quite involved in Cancer care provision therefore would like to follow an alternative route. . Thank you Muslimah, your answer has given me encouragement - perhaps one day inchallah you can help also but not financially!! Thank you for the much appreciated comments Sarah. Yes true, but I'm afraid everything is not accessible, health care for men is very poor, prostate cancer screening....there was only one Geriatrician in the whole of Morocco, now unfortunately - in more ways than one - he has died. There is no provision for stroke rehab to my knowledge, nor for elderly people living alone ie maison retraits (sorry, one in Rabat French owned)
A: i think it be nice of you and a good idea to focus on people in poverty. i know of people in morocco who died from curalble infections becuase they didnt have access to antibiotics that we take for granted her in the UK. i think it be good to look at stats for poorest areas in morocco. it be a good deed. iv always wanted to help the poor when i go, but their are sooo many and as a student i dont have that much to give. i mean i have poor relatives id like to help my cousins who are younger then me get an education i want to pay for them to go to collage all equipment becuase they actually want to go. and also pay for my uncles to learn a trade so they can earn a livvign at the moment they dont. inshallah i will be able to help. but what you are going to do will be a great thing and i admire you for it. morocco's health sector works on obviously when you can pay for it you get the service. you cant pay you dont get treated... so you die. which is heart breaking especially as it happens alot in the area i come from in morocco. :( they had a good documentry on moroccan hospitals on 2M moroccan channel. was an eye opener. good luck all the best. id love to inshallah, im hoping to work in morocco in the near future. im training at university to be a radiographer so id love to work in health care over there just to help teh people. :D you never know what teh future holds. allah alaam. ma salaamaa
