Police pay in Morocco?

Q: What sort of money to Moroccan police earn, and how does that translate in terms of relative living costs? When I visited, the country didn't seem to have much of a curruption problem, I asked numerous police for directions, and was warned that if I did this, they'd request bribes for their time, etc, but I found police very willing to help, friendly and not once was any bribe suggested. Yes, I'm sure they wouldn't say no to a bribe, but they don't seem to opporate on it. Which leads me to think, do the police leave in relative luxory compared to the average Moroccan?

A: Its accepted that Moroccan Police supplement their incomes through bribery the basic pay could never sustain them. It seems to be accepted in Moroccan society so I cant see it changing any time soon. The position is if you find yourself in trouble you can get out of it with a bribe as long as you bribe the 1st police officer before his senior gets involved. If that happens you can still get out of your fix but it will cost you more. The other source of income is when police take bribes to speed up administrative tasks such as rubber stamping foreign marriage applications. I only know this bit from when AM got married.
