Q: Have booked a package holiday to Morocco (Agadir). Have read a few reviews on the hotel's food, now I'm a little worried as someone said that they serve pork. My husband is a Muslim. Does anyone know if the meat in the hotel is halal. Thanks
A: All the meals in the hotels are halal. Morocco is a Muslim country, 98% of the population are muslim, 1.8% Christian and 0.2% Jews. It is very difficult to obtain pork in Morocco, though not impossible (see http://riadzany.blogspot.com/2008/03/one-of-last-things-you-would-expect-to.html) You can buy meats in the supermarket that look like 'spam' but it is actually a meat product called Moutardilla. Unlike England one has to look on each packet to ensure there are no pork products, it is quite the opposite in Morocco. Don't worry, your meals will all be Halal.
