Q: i just need to know if it is possible to contact someone if they are on a vodaphone sim. You see, in Europe it will just change network. However, in eastern countries such as Indonesia they lose signal completely and if you want to contact anyone you have to buy a new sim card (that is suitable for that country) please write asap! thanks!

A: It may depend on which country you visit in Africa and which kind of phone you are using. In some African countries usually you have to buy a Sim card when you land, due to different signal you get. However, in South Africa you can get vodacom, which is the South African version of Vodafone. I have looked and it seems that if you have a tri-band or quad- band phone it should change automatically. Your best bet is to phone your network company and ask directly. http://help.vodafone.co.uk/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=BROWSE_TOPIC&PARTITION_ID=1&CONFIGURATION=1000&SIDE_LINK_SUB_TOPIC_ID=1247&SIDE_LINK_TOPIC_ID=1009&TOPIC_ID=1247&TOPIC_TYPE=0&STARTING_ID=0&TOPIC_NAME=Overseas%20networks&PARENT_TOPIC_ID=1009&PARENT_TOPIC_TYPE=0&SOURCE_FORM=BROWSE_TOPIC http://www.abroad.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm?do=cost.home&me=a1&nu=1&le=1&business=true&costs=true&tariff=0&country=1078026147 http://www.vodacom.co.za/welcome.do
