Q: I know you can get a permit to hunt and carry a weapon in the field as a visitor...what's the rule on getting a license for carrying a concealed weapon for protection as a tourist? s l, that's what Yahoo Answers is for...opinions without phone calls!
A: There is so much red tape. if you want to hunt rather use the game farm owners guns, they usually provide their tourist hunters with very nice guns. As for a foreigner bringing in a gun for his own protection, well that is a very good idea especially since tourists get attacked here. But alas it will not be possible, just renewed my gun license the other day, you have to be over 21, as SA citizen, have no previous convictions regarding guns etc etc...Dont think the Act provides for tourist fearing for their lives, I didn't see any article pertianing to that in the Act.....sorry. If I were you I will buy some pepper spray or a taser and bring it with.
