Q: I need to get an exercise routine to start off with one I can do with my two young kids, 8 and 6 years old. I am not very active and I need to start of slow. A: Gene the best is to start walking every day for at least 40 minutes, make sure to get your heart rate up, if your kids cannot keep up let them cycle next to you on their bikes. Take it slow for the first week, later start jogging from lamp post to lamp post, jog one lamp post and walk 2, then jog 2 and walk 3, just take it slow and do not kill yourself, buy Runners Magazine there they usually have a 10 week running plan to enable you to run 10 km after 10 weeks.
