Q: Following on from Cakes question, what happens if a person is cremated and no one collects the Ashes? Is there a certain length of time which they keep them? If so after that time is up what do they do with them?
A: I was informed that they collect the ashes in barrels and give it to farmers to use as fertilizer (they mix it with compost or something). But this is years ago. Today they probably SELL it to the farmers. Eeee I don't like the implications either but.....the chap that told me worked at a crematorium in Brixton (Johannesburg) I was stupid enough to ask and he told me more than I wanted to hear.
