Q: There is no Namibia in the list, so I'll ask this here and hope someone can help. Can you give me the pro's and con's of living in Namibia? If it comes down to it, I would want to emigrate there, but I don't want to jump from the pan and into the fire. Some useful info, please? Thank you. Thank you, Bull.

A: Namibia may be a dry land as the west of the country is desert and most of the south is semi-desert. But Namibia is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa. I am not sure about a 'severe drought' at the moment, but Namibia never had (in the latter years) water to waist. Crime in Namibia cannot been compared to South Africa. It is for sure not crime free, but which country in the world is? I grew up in Namibia and I know a lot changed since I lived there, but if I can go back to Namibia, I would seriously consider it. I would really suggest that you first do your research on job opportunities before you jump. I am not sure what the availability of jobs is. Life in Namibia is much more relaxed than life in South Africa. People are much more friendly and helpfull. Windhoek is the capital of Namibia and the largest city (obviously). Other towns are not that big. The best is to do your research thoroughly and if possible get a job before you move. It may be a good idea to get a work permit/visa for a period of time (say 2 years) and experience life in Namibia firsthand before making a final decision. Here is a link where you can learn more about the country. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namibia Hope this helps. *** edit *** BTW - I left Namibia when I studied in SA, got married and built my life in SA.
