Q: Years ago I had an Afrikaans female friend who refused to speak Afrikaans, even though we lived in an 95% Afrikaans speaking town. According to her, men have more respect for English women than Afrikaans women and they find them more attractive and alluring. Your thoughts on the subject?
A: Again we see the hand of the English here, when we were colonised by the British anyone who did not speak English was considered to be secondclass and inferior to them and it became stigma for anyone who did not praat the Kings English, so a lot of Afrikaaners became English wannabe's. Personally I think that Afrikaans is a much more expressive and passionate language than English and Afrikaans poetry is so cool.
