my son is going to Tunisia on holiday with his father, any ideas what i should pack for him in the way of med?

Q: He is fair but tans well and i will put in Factor 50 sunsrceen. Does his father need i letter from me stating that i have no problems with him traveling with his son?

A: You do not NEED a letter from you stating that your husband can travel alone with your son, but I do advise it. It should be a motorized letter that states your name, the name of your husband, the name of your son, when they are leaving, when they are expected back, the fact that you give them permission to travel without you, and that you allow your husband to seek any and all medical attention and services for your son should he require it. Also make sure to keep a copy for yourself in case of an emergency. The reason I advise it is because it can come in handy when going through any customs and passport control in the world. A few months ago my husband and I went to Paris. When we got to passport control, the man in front of us had problems because he was traveling alone with his three children and did not have a note from his wife. Of course I couldn't hear the whole conversation and why it was important, but I think it is better to be safe than sorry. I know I always travel with a letter from my husband when I travel alone with the children. There are no necessary vaccines that need to be taken in order to go to Tunisia unless you are traveling from an area that has yellow fever. As for medications, I would bring any medications that your son and husband normally have to take. Also pack some for things such as fever, stomach ache, cough, etc. Here in Tunisia we have fully equipped pharmacies that carry all types of medications and they are very good. The reason I suggest bringing your own medication is because it is best to bring along medications that you are familiar with and know work. We use medications that are familiar to France, and most of the information sheets that come with the medications are written in French. Sunscreen is a must when traveling to Tunisia! The factor that you buy is up to you. Be sure to get one that is not only water proof, but sweat proof as well. Along with having hot temperatures, we also have very high humidity and they will sweat a lot if out in the sun! Tell them to pack light clothing because of the heat. The lighter the weight and color, and the looser the fit, the more comfortable they will be. A hat and sunglasses are also things that they should bring, along with a good pair of walking shoes (if they plan on doing sight-seeing). I hope they have a wonderful time, and if I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me anytime.
