anyone travel to tunisia before and what, if any, precautions should i take?

Q: i am going there for a week to tunis for work.

A: I live in Tunisia - in the city of Monastir. I lived in Tunis for a few months when I first moved out there. Tunis is a very large, and very busy city! Be sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to work if you are leaving between 7-9am as it gets very crowded - especially along the auto route! Tunisia is a very safe country. I myself go walking alone at 11pm at night sometimes and have never once had a problem. Since you will be in the work atmosphere and in the main part of the city (I presume) I suggest you wear conservative clothes. Shorts, t-shirts, sandals are fine. Just make sure they are not too short or too revealing, just out of politeness. Try to bring along cash with you if at all possible. While ATMs can be found in Tunis, you will be charged a fee for using them, and an extra fee from your bank for having to convert the currency. A lot of people forget that and have hefty credit/debit card expenses. I don't know what else you would like to know, but if you contact me, I'll be more than happy to tell you anything you need to know.
