Q: i'll be based in a hotel in the town of el kantoni, and travelling in june ( i,m over fifty )

A: There are a number of great places to visit, and you are in quite a good location. As you may knwo there is a beautoful marina in port el kantoui with lots of little shops and resteraunts. You are not far from Sousse at all where you will find the old arab town (medina) where you will need to cover up a little (sleevless is ok though) where there are traditional little shops and is like being surrounded by castle walls. Sidi Bou Said is a beautiful with traditional doorways and a lovely cafe at the top of a numer of stairs. There are like 50 stairs down to a beach but i wouldn't recommned that route as they are quite bumpy and I'm only 23 but was knackered! Tunis is nice (the capital city) and there is a lovely shopping complex called carrefour just outside, and in the centre there is plenty of shopping a lovely restaurants. A trip to the Sahara is also a good option but it might be a little too hot as it is going to be hot enough in port el kantoui....just bear in ind the ocean breeze can be a lttle deceptive so make sure you're head is covered if you are out for long periods of time and your shoulders are covered or you will burn. Hope this helps and if you want any further information, I am sure there will be plenty of leaflets in your hotel, and although there may be some travel shops in port el kantoui, i know that there a few in Sousse, and there are also many different people offering boat trips where you go round the coast line and have lunch on the boat with grilled fish, fresh fruit and other tunisian food. Have fun
