Skanes is the outermost part of the city of Monastir and boarders the city of Sousse. Monastir is a fairly quiet city that is great for relaxation and rest, while Sousse is a more bustling city that has more to offer to tourists who like to get out and really experience Tunisian life. Plus hotels have tour operators that offer excursions to some of the popular tourist sights in Tunisia. Since you will come in January you will find that these places are not as full, giving you a better opportunity to look around and really enjoy your experience.
