Q: i'm thinking about moving to tunisia. how much it costs to live here for 2 people, living modest life but eating out usually but not always. i earn from my online bussines like 1200 tunisian dinars, will this be enough for 2 people? also, does tunisia is cheaper than egypt? and i don't mean compared to cairo, as it's polluted and expensive, i'm only intrested in some towns near sea, but with internet, so compare it to hurghada or alexandria (dunno about alex, it also might be polluted and expensive) how much it is to eat out in tunisia? and what city would you suggest, doesnt have to be big like tunis, maybe sousse? but not sure if sousse is actually cheaper than tunis also, to clarify. i would be happy living in 1bedroom apartment of around 50m2 that is not very far from sea (doesnt have to be very near too, as i guess it would cost a lot more). as to location, i dont know and could you also suggest me some not expensive one... also, about comparing to egypt - one thing is, is it cheaper? and the other - does people mentality is different? i heard women harrasment in egypt is getting worse, is it getting worse in tunisia too? and one more very important thing - will i be able to communicate with people speaking english? i don't know arabic or french. just polish, english and some german.

A: i would say 1200 is overly sufficient for residing in Tunisia, Egypt is however much cheaper than Tunis. when looking for housing in Tunisia don't go through a tourist place, try to find a Tunisian you know to look for you. you will find a much cheaper place an save at least three hundred a month. Sousse is wonderful, i live there. i love it. taxi's are cheap half dinar to go to most places, that's like forty cents US dollars, eating out for a family of four at a great western type restaurant is only around twenty, with drinks and salads. a whole chicken dinner is ten dinars, sides and everything! every place can get Internet installed, its like sixty dinars a month, however lights run only 6o for three months usage!!! as well as phone. food can run you 100 to 200 every month. chicken are about five dollars eight for a big one. red meat is a little more, maybe ten dinars for a pound, however veggies and fruits are cheap. coke a cola is only sixty 'cents' for a one liter, water can run 20- sixty for a liter, really cheap compared to some places. its really just about managing your money well, and put aside a few dollars for medicine, doctors visit can run ten to twenty dinars with medicines extra. i say you should be fine on 1200 a month. if you'd like more information or have questions, email me.
