going on holiday to tunisia, what is the culture like? any do's and dont's?

Q: Im not sure what tunisian culture is like, ive just booked a holiday to Sousse and i know that the culture is different from that of the UK. For example wud it be offensive to wear shorts and a strap top in public, is it more polite to cover up? What about drinking? is it acceptable to get drunk? in public and in hotel? are there any other things that i should take note of for when i go? Thanks

A: Culture here is pretty laid back, especially in touristic cities, like Sousse. Shorts are fine, but I would try not to wear ones that are too short or tops that are too revealing. You'll get a lot of looks if you do, and you probably are not going to like the unwanted attention. Plus it's a respect thing. Drinking is fine - it is allowed at hotels and in restaurants, but if I were you I would not get drunk in public. You will have to watch out for people who could possibly try to take advantage of the fact that you are drunk, plus it goes against the culture here because most Tunisians do not drink. While you are here, just have fun. Remember to act in a polite and respectful way and others will treat you properly. Tunisia is a wonderful holiday spot and I hope that you are able to enjoy yourself! If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
