Q: I asked about costs of living in tunisia and egypt, but people seems to differ about it, even about average meal at average restaurant. So maybe you could compare those two countries? For example, Living in 2 tourists cities like Hurghada in Egypt, and Sousse in Tunisia. (or just tell about any other city you know, just take away extremes like expats area in Cairo, where everything is very very pricy) How much it costs to rent an 2bed apartment (quite modern, but not luxury), and how much it costs to eat out (from fast food, to good restaurants). I would like to compare costs of living in those two countries, while staying long-term. Nobody is answering me in general Africa & Middle East section, so i add this question here, where people can see it. cutie- that's the exact opposite thing that people are telling me in similar thread posted in Egypt section. they say Egypt is cheaper. tunisianbelle - people just tell me their general thoughts, that egypt is cheaper, because they know it is poorer. but according to some rankings (like the one made by mercer), or comparing data you gave me with data that other people gave me, tunisia might be cheaper. Besides - poorer countries ARE NOT cheaper - look at all africa. 90% what we consider normal goods are imported by them (and on small scale), so they CANT be cheap. you dont have to paste me your answer again - what i'm asking is comparison. this can be answered only by person who was in both countries and have some idea. the general comment that egypt is cheaper is not quite true - for example, in hurghada it costs A LOT monthly for water. one more thing - i dont ask about where is it cheaper for beggar to live on a street. i'm asking about normal, middle-income life (not luxury too though). begger might get easier on less money in egypt, but is is also true for middle-income person? please consider it closely

A: ****EDIT**** Well the prices I gave you for here in Tunisia are for middle class/upper class living (I would never give someone the costs/prices that a beggar or lower income family would pay). In Tunisia you pay water and electricity every three months. The prices for those will depend on how much of the service you use, but in general water is about 10-20TDN every three months, and electricity is about 50-75TDN every three months. **** I already answered your question on this before. If people are saying it's cheaper to live in Egypt, then you should probably believe them - you heard it from others who answered your question here in Tunisia section last time as well. I will go ahead and give you prices again for the things you are looking at for Tunisia: 1.) Cost of housing will depend on a few things. It will depend on where in the city you want to rent, whether you want to rent an apartment or a house, and what amenities you want. The more amenities, the higher the price. Do you want central heating or no? Do you want gaz du ville or gaz that you buy in a bottle? Do you want air conditioning or not? Do you want a great view or does it not matter? How good a neighborhood do you want to live in? Do you want it furnished or unfurnished? All these play a factor in the price. You can find rents as low as 200TDN a month up to 1000TDN a month, with the average being around 250-350TDN a month. 2.) Here's a link to a question I answered about the cost of living in Tunisia: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=An4G2LMUiqSaQU1eFaglszMH7RR.;_ylv=3?qid=20071204082651AAkxegY It'll give you more of an idea about food prices (both restaurant and if you decide to buy food and cook at home) and prices of things to do for recreation. Fast food restaurants will cost around 3TDN per person (and that will include a drink). Normal restaurants will be between 10-20TDN for two people, and fancier restaurants will vary depending on the type and what you order (be careful though because they can get really expensive!). If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
