Q: I am wondering if there are any resources available for learning Tunisian Arabic- books, audio, websites, etc. Thanks so much!

A: I have not come across anything that deals specifically with Tunisian Arabic on the web, or for sale anywhere. The only thing I had was an English-Tunisian Arabic dictionary done by the US Peace Corps that the friend of my husbands dad lent me when I first moved here (he used to teach Arabic to those in the Peace Corps who were stationed here and created the dictionary himself). The only place that you will probably be able to learn Tunisian dialect will be here in Tunisia. There are schools here that teach it, such as the school of the White Sisters in Tunis, and Bourguiba schools in Tunis and Sousse. You can also find a private tutor. If you already speak Arabic, then it is not that hard to learn Tunisian dialect. It's basically the difference of how people speak from the US to England - there are some differences in words and phrases. People in Tunisia are also fluent in French. If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
