Q: when i am in tunisia i will require to phone the uk on a daily basis and i am wondering what are my best options for suitability and for price for phoning home. 1.hotel phone 2.public phone 3.tunisian sim card 4.british sim card 5.any other options available to keep costs down. i will also be taking my laptop with me and i am wondering how available it is to connect to an internet provider. thank you in anticipation.
A: You do not want to use your UK sim card because you will be charged roaming, and that can be a high price depending on your service plan. The hotel phone would also be an option best left unused. A Tunisian sim will cost you 5TND to get. The advantage of it is that you will be able to use your phone whenever you want though. I would say that this option or the public phone (we call them taxi phones) would be your best bets. most hotels now offer internet service, so you should be able to easily connect to the internet. And if you have MSN, or Skype, or Yahoo Messenger, then those would be the best ways to call the UK because the calls would be free! I use MSN to call my mother in the US everyday.
