Q: We are a New Zealand couple in our mid/early 20's expecting our first child in December, and looking for somewhere different, safe, and cheap to raise our child. We have been thinking about Darwin, Australia, but have recently heard that Tunisia is a nice place to live, in regards to safety, culture etc. Basically, we would be grateful for any advice for us shifting there, I am a qualified hairdresser, and nanny, and experienced in retail. My partner is a qualified Bricklayer. But both of us are willing to try our hand at anything that will help make us our millions!! Please advise us on living costs, pay rates etc. As well as what we can expect from living there. Thankyou.

A: Tunisia is a great place to live, but for your circumstances, I would say that you would do better to go to Australia. With the qualifications you and your husband have, you will not make your millions here. Also, before you can even think of getting a job here in Tunisia, you must have a properly drawn-up contract which has been endorsed by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Foreigners are not allowed to do jobs which Tunisians could normally fill. You cannot apply for such a contract yourself. When an employer has offered you a job, you will draw up a contract by mutual consent and it is incumbent on your employer to get proper ministerial endorsement of it. Second, your credentials will have to meet those of the Tunisian standard and you will need proper documentation to prove it. I do not know if you will have to pass another exam or not to prove this. I do hope that everything works out for you all. If I can be of anymore help or assistance, please feel free to contact me anytime.
