Q: I keep reading in some online news website saying that authorities stop women with hijab on the streets and take it off by force, is this true or it's some media craze agaisnt tunisia? http://www.alarabiya.net/articles/2008/06/10/51314.html http://news.newamericamedia.org/news/view_article.html?article_id=d30c80c6c361c41f64d8218e5b334646

A: I am tunisian, and I admit: yes they do it but not always, they it it from women by force, take them to police station and oblige them to sign a paper in witch they promise not to wear hijab again. women with hijab are not employed in government jobs, students have problems at university with the police (present in each university). I am not a fundamentalist, but I am with the personel liberties, and wearing hijab or not is one of them. But the funniest things are the govenment's arguments: its not our tradition to wear hijab (as if it's our tradition to wear a suit and a tie).
