Q: My fiancee and I are going on our honeymoon to Tunisia in the first week of September. I bought a little AA guide book to learn phrases and find good places to go see and it has warnings about women going out alone and saying you must cover up outside the hotel as it's a strict Muslim country. I know about covering you head in religious places but I don't know how covered up it means. I'm not planning on struttingaroundd in a bikini but I usually wear shortsknee lengthh skirt and a vest top. Is that enough or do I need to cover my arms and legs? I've head so manyscaryy things about covering up and pushy sales people I'm starting toregrett booking it which I hate! So anyone been there, or live there? How covered up should I be? Is it really as bad for women as people have been making out for me? I heard it's a bit like Spain was 20 years ago. I just want a relaxing holiday :-p Staying in Mahdia if that helps! :)
A: went to tunisia last year and it was amazing. i was in port el kantaoiu, sousse and hammamet which are touriy areas. and all i lived in were vests shorts and knee length skirts. but.... your gonna be there during ramadam so i would have a little more respect and bring a light shawl. the one thing is tunisian men love girls wit big breasts so be careful bout that. i was with my fiancee and as he's a big strong fella so had no trouble except for the ogling!! if you have any problems wit pushy ppl mention the police. tunisians live in fear of the police as haddling a tourist is a serious crime there. and you'll be surprised how many man were your waiter the night before!!! and also own a shop!!!! just stay in touristy sts and besides its your honeymoon!! just relax on the beach or pool. if you like some more info feel free to email me usng my profile link. congrats
