Q: I am looking for a place to live and see lots of ads for flats in Sharjah...is that in/near Dubai? I am looking for a place that's where the fun is. Not out of Dubai. Thx.
A: Sharjah is very close in distance but can be very long in travel time if you live in Sharjah and work in Dubai. Because lots of people do so, since the apartment rents are still cheaper than Dubai. See this map for a feeling of distances: http://www.startpagedubai.com/maps/Dubai-map-with-distances-in-km.htm I don't think the fun will be in Sharjah. It is much more conservative. For instance: no alcohol at all, no sheeshja, not many luxury beach hotels and little night live. It seems to be ok for families though.
