Q: We were supoosed to travel to dubai on a visit visa sponsored by my husband's employer(since we are indian passport holders),after which the employment visa would be processed whilst we were there. With the new visa rules, would we need to change our plans? The employer is a multinational company operating out of the freezone area(dubai internet city) Thanks for your help!

A: No it is not mentioned anywhere in the news articles that freezone companies are exempted from new visa rules. According to new rules your husband can be issued either of these visa:- Work Permits for Dubai (For Permanent Job) To work in Dubai, you need a work permit or labor card along with residency visa. Usually the company you work for will arrange both work permits and residency visas for you and your family, and will explain to you what documents you need. If you're in Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Knowledge Village, or one of the other Free Zones, then you should be able to get everything arranged easily and quickly. Some companies are efficient at arranging work permits and residency visas, others are more tardy and can take months or longer. It can also depend on the relationship the company has with the respective government departments. Mission visa (For Temporary Jobs) Another new visa that is being introduced is the mission visa. It is issued for the purpose of temporary work in the country, has a maximum validity of 180 days and comes for a combined fee of 1,800 dirhams ($90). It is initially issued for three months against a fee of 600 dirhams and can be renewed for three more months against a fee of 1,200 dirhams.
