Q: I'm wondering how it is to work in the service industry in the Middle East- I'm a bartender, and thinking of checking it out. Has anyone done this? How's the money (tips...) Any experience or advice? Edit- what about finding accomodation?

A: Hi, I am Canadian and I've been living in Bahrain for the past 18 months. Coming here as a bartender is not a good idea as the majority of bartenders are Asian (mostly Indians et Phillipines) Their average pay is about $250 cnd per month with accomodations provided but it's usually a shared room. Middle-east expat are mostly bankers or IT people. Remember cost of living is very high. At least twice compare to Montreal for example.
