Q: Salam, I just got residency in Dubai, after joining a company. My wife and daughter have entered the country with me on visit visa, expiring on August 13. Holding a French passport, they entered the country on a 60 days visa delivered on arrival (because of the French passport) that was later extended by 30 days. But this visa is expiring on August 13th, and it seems paperwork to have them joining me on my residence visa will not be ready by then. So they have to exit the country and re-enter. But the new regulations is unclear, and no same answer was given to us by Dubai immigration services. Some say you need to go to your home country, for a period of time. some that you can't renew it anymore by visiting a border country, but don't mention going back to the country of origin. I need your help in understanding: -to which country we need to go, to re-enter Dubai and have a new visit visa delivered? Qatar? Oman? Egypt? France? -for how long do they need to stay there?

A: Regarding your question no clear answer can be found these days neither in the press nor on the net, unless that also for "exempted" countries visit visas are no more renewable. On the "exempted" group of countries there are no official information if Dhs 1.000 needs to be paid (mostly not), no information for how long a visitor has to stay outside the country and for how many times he/she can come back. Seems that all this got regulated only for nationalities who have to apply for a visa to the UAE in advance. Please try to get the right information here: http://www.dnrd.gov.ae/dnrd/inquiries/co... Btw: if you have all necessary papers of your wife and daughter in order it should be possible to obtain the residence permit for them in within 2 weeks. certified marriage and birth certificate, a bunch of passport photos, passport copies, NOC and salary certificate from your company. Go to DNRD early in the morning, pick up applications and have it translated. The same day your wife and daughter still can go for the medical. The results should be ready for pick up 2 days later. Same day you could turn in passports and you will receive the residence visa 3 or 4 days later. Good luck!
