A: I have to agree what Hirohito just said. You cannot compare the oldtimers in Abu Dhabi with the newcomers as the oldtimers have retained the old Abu Dhabi Economic situation specially when it comes to house rent. 2 Bedroom-Hall Flat in the UAE for those who are presently living in the UAE from 2005 and below are just Dhs. 50 to 60,000 per year or about Dhs. 5,000 per month. For a newcomer, a 2 BR-Hall Flat in Abu Dhabi is at least Dhs. 160 to 180,000/year. Finding a 1 B/R Hall with a range of Dhs. 130,000/year is hard to get in Abu Dhabi. This is the reality. Try to negotiate that your family housing of 2-B/R Hall shall be provided by your company and have your salary reduced to Dhs. 28,000/month. I bet your employer will not agree. Even at Dhs. 25,000/month - your employer will think twice. Abu Dhabi is expensiv because of housing and education - other than that - then you have a very ideal lifestyle (better than Dubai !) Goodluck ! EDIT 1: The salary offered to you is below par with your fellow Irish Nationals in the UAE in general. I have met quite a number of young, single and care free Irish and Geordies at the Irish Village in Dubai and most of them are receiving at least Dhs. 45,000/month with good extra income from sales commissions. As I mentioned- try to negotiate with a provided 2-B/R Hall Flat or villa from your employer with at least 2 months salary equivalent as your furniture allowance. Schooling for a grader in the UAE in an english School is about Dhs. 30,000 to 35,000/year for your info. Mine is going to Canadian School and I'm paying Dhs. 28,000/year for a grader.
