Q: I'm moving from the US to Dubai tomorrow. How different is life from here to there- details would be appreciated. I just want a completely unbiased, straight-to-the point answer about living in Dubai. Since I'm a teenager, I don't need info about jobs or bills, but prices for ordinary stuff like food and clothes. :) Thanks. Hey, thanks guys! I'll land in Dubai tonight (or tomorrow, does it matter)! THANK YOU SO MUCH. Almost all of you rock! I wish I vote all of you best answer, but I can't :(

A: I moved to Dubai three years ago from Canada and I thought about the same things before moving here. When it comes to shopping, Dubai has lots of stores that they have in Canada and the US, so that's not something to worry about. The prices are usually around the same, they can be a bit more expensive sometimes, and at times a bit cheaper. Something I found surprising in Dubai, however, is how for example a can of coke that you can buy at a supermarket for one Dirham (around 30 cents), can cost 10 Dirhams (about 3 Dollars) at a restaurant or a cafe. You'll see a lot of that! The good thing is Dubai has a lot of the fast food chains that they have in the States (except Taco Bell unfortunately haha). At first, you might not like it here so much, but after spending some time and meeting some people it can be pretty fun. It's a really good experience too, you learn a lot. Good luck, hope it goes well.
