Passport lost in transit while sending for visa cancellation to uae. Please read details.?

Q: I resigned from my company after working for 18 months in UAE. I had to come to India on an emergency. I sent back my passport through Registered Post of India to my company in Dubai for visa cancellation. Now it has been a month and my company has not yet received the passport for the visa cancellation. In this situation what can I do? If I do not get the visa on my passport cancelled, I may not be able to enter in UAE again? What do I need to do in order to enter UAE again for work?

A: More or less .. this is how it works - you have a file in the Immigration Database. Your file is accessible by the Immigration Officers according to your name (in arabic), passport numbers, working visa numbers, date of birth, etc. This means that a person applying for a new visa can be traced by the above and once at least 2 or according to the types of records a person is filed with (absconding, civil case filed, security watch, etc) a person can be denied or allowed. In your case - most probably you wont get a new employment visa as according to Immigration File, you are still employed and never cancelled the visa. The best thing that you can do (though it may take ages) is to execute an affidavit of passport loss and secure a new passport from your country. You have to find a trusted people (a relative perhaps) whom you can entrust your passport in Dubai and let the person forward the passport with a receipt document to be signed by your former employer representative. The reason for this is that it's hard for you to follow-up and one thing, the success rate of having a cancellation is higher with somebody locally following up than you being in India doing the chasing. Have a new passport first - if you can't have the old one back and consider the above. Good luck !
