Q: I mean its good that they don't want drugs in the UAE, but I also heard that now they are jailing innocent tourists who happen to have microscopic amounts of drugs that they may have stepped on (like 0.003 g of cannabis) or for poppy seeds from bread. Anyone can come across that, and it scares me. These draconian policies need to stop, or else Dubai will ruin its reputation and scare away its possible tourists. A: I dont know why you termed the drug law in the UAE as ridiculous. Saudi has it, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc...have it as well. You know what is ridiculous? I'll give you one: I was coming out from a flight from Abu Dhabi to NY-JFK and landed at Terminal 4. Behold the sea of arab humanity in this particular terminal. I missed my connecting flight as the Immigration Officers are taking most of the time looking for something errr... microscopic as well ??? from those arab passengers eager to enter the US. Nevertheless - I got a new booking for my connecting flight. I was on a que again along with my fellow passengers. All of a sudden, the security personnel STOPPED me and suddenly recited " You have been randomly picked up for routine security check" Randomly? .. I looked around and found out - I'M THE ONLY NON-WHITE PASSENGER ! - Yes, now I know the term "randomly" means non-white in the US. They whisked me to an isolation place with an oven-like machine. They wiped my hands, the handle of my briefcase, the zipper handles, my laptop and pens with this funny looking piece of cloth and they put these wipes to this funny machine and run some sort of electronic device. I was thinking - what then now???? And after - they let me go and found I'm clean (Hallelujah - Praise the Lord ! Amen !!! and amen again !!!) And you know what they are looking for ??? THEY ARE LOOKING FOR SOME ATOM PARTICLES CALLED IONS ON THIS MICROSCOPIC THING CALLED EXPLOSIVES INGREDIENTS !!!" NOW if you think microscopic is ridiculous - how about sub atomic particles of a microscopic thing ??? Who is ridiculous now ???
